2019 Volvo XC60

The XC60 is Volvo's 5-door, 5-seat mid-size SÚV. It is built on the Scalable Product Architecture (SPA), Volvo's advanced modular product platform that underpins all Volvo cars in the 90 and 60 Series.
Following in the footsteps of its predecessor, the second generation XC60 has quickly become the best-selling model in Volvo Cars' range. The original XC60 sold almost one million units globally and was the best-selling mid-sized premium SÚV in Europe.




Inside, Volvo has taken cues from the clean, Scandinavian interior design first introduced in the 90 Series cars, raising the bar in the segment with natural materials and new details on the dashboard and instrument panel.

Connectivity and infotainment
All new Volvos are now connected, thanks to Volvo's connectivity and infotainment system called Sensus. It delivers an intuitive touch screen interface that combines car functions, navigation, connected services and in-car entertainment applications such as Spotify, Pandora, Baidu or TuneIn. The portrait-oriented touch screen enables easy and fast access to a host of functions and features. As in the 90 Series cars, smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is also available.



Volvo's Twin Engine plug-in hybrid delivers all the benefits of a high performance, low emission petrol engine with an electric motor that delivers power on demand with ultralow CO2 emissions and more than 40 km of pure electric range.

Safety and driver assistance
Volvo's leadership in the field of automotive safety is confirmed in the XC60. The SPA platform has resulted in the strongest Volvo cars to date because of extensive use of boron steel, as well as numerous safety systems designed to protect people inside and outside the car.

Volvo's City Safety technology, standard on all Volvo models, combines automatic braking functionality and collision avoidance systems to cover a range of potential accident scenarios and help keep you safe. City Safety is the only system on the market that detects pedestrians, cyclists and large animals such as moose and deer.

The Pilot Assist driver assistance system, optional on the XC60, works up to 130 km/h on clearly marked roads and is another step towards Volvo's Vision 2020, which states that no one should be killed or seriously injured in a new Volvo by 2020.

The XC60, like all good Scandinavian design, projects understated confidence, with an exterior defined by uncluttered lines and dynamic proportions. Large wheels and pronounced wheel arches clearly express its athleticism, while integrated roof rails and tough side moldings highlight its capable SÚV character.





Dynamic comfort
The XC60 has a chassis that delivers exceptional comfort and control. Sophisticated double wishbone front suspension and integral-link rear suspension use strong, lightweight materials, to help provide agile handling and responsive steering.

Riding on air
Optional air suspension makes the XC60 even more capable, by keeping the ride height constant and giving you a smoother, more controlled ride over bumps and through corners. The suspension's responses are adjusted constantly on the move, according to its drive mode and speed. In Comfort or Eco drive mode, the body is lowered 10–20mm at higher speeds to use less fuel. (concept carz) In Dynamic mode the body is lowered by 20mm, for even sportier handling.

A drive adapted to you
The XC60 has a choice of drive modes that allow you to adapt the driving experience to your needs. You can switch between three default settings for the engine, automatic gearbox, steering, brakes, stability control system, and engine stop/start function. And you can create your own combination with Individual mode. You simply toggle through the drive settings – which are displayed on the 9' Sensus Touchscreen – using the roller control between the front seats.


Space to explore
The XC60 has the space and versatility to help you seek out new adventures. Thoughtfully designed seats maximize rear legroom, while the load compartment is well shaped, with a volume of 22.4 cubic feet to the top of the backrest and 50.6 cubic feet when rear backrests are folded. Backrests that fold down with the push of a button are also available.



The new XC60, one of the safest cars ever made, is fully loaded with new technology. Steer Assist has been added to the ground-breaking City Safety system. A new safety system called Oncoming Lane Mitigation uses Steer Assist to help mitigate head-on collisions, while Volvo's Blind Spot Indication System (BLIS) now uses Steer Assist functionality to reduce the risk of lane-changing collisions.

Pilot Assist, Volvo's advanced semi-autonomous driver-assistance system, which takes care of steering, acceleration and braking on well-marked roads up to 130 km/h, is available in the new XC60 as an option.

Performance

The new XC60 offers Volvo's award-winning T8 Twin Engine petrol plug-in hybrid at the top of the powertrain range, delivering 407 hp and acceleration from 0-100 km/h in just 5.3 seconds.

'We have a wide range of powertrains. The new XC60 will be launched with the diesel D4 engine at 190 hp and the D5 with PowerPulse technology delivering 235 hp. We also have the petrol-powered T5 delivering 254 hp and the T6 which, with both turbo and superchargers attached, delivers 320 hp and 400 Nm of torque,' added Henrik Green.

But it is not just under the bonnet that the new XC60 delivers healthy performance. The new CleanZone four-zone climate control system removes harmful pollutants and particles from outside the cabin to deliver Scandinavian-fresh air on the inside.

Volvo Cars' driver infotainment and connected services offer, Sensus, and the Volvo On Call app both receive a graphical update with improved usability. As in the 90 series cars, smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is also available.

Volvo Cars' new XC60 is set to go into production in mid-April at the Torslanda Plant in Sweden.
