1947 Chevrolet Fleetline

The postwar Chevrolet models were mildly altered versions of their 1942 models, which were good enough to make Chevrolet the best-selling automaker in the United States. The reliable six-cylinder 'Stovebolt Six' were competitively priced, and the styling was both conservative and attractive. Bodystyles on the Fleetline included a Sport Master sedan and an Aerodynamic Sedan, which the Aero Sedan accounting for 159,407 units sold, its most ever. Chevrolet's slogan for the Fleetmaster was 'The Big Car for Less,' having a base price of just $1,313. The Sport Master Sedan, of which 54,531 were sold, had a base price of $1,370.

The 1947 Chevrolet Fleetline had a new grille, triple stainless steel 'speedlines' on the fenders, and a 90 horsepower, 216.5 CID overhead valve engine backed by a three-speed manual transmission. Drum brakes were located at all four corners, the wheelbase measured 116 inches, and the suspension was comprised of semi-elliptic leaf springs with shocks.
