The entire collection sold wonderfully well, grossing £470,964, a figure which more than doubled the pre-sale estimate. The top-selling lot was the Period Bell Formula 1 Helmet, surely one of the most recognisable helmet designs in Formula One, ever. The helmet was produced by Bell and carries a 1970 Snell label inside and was used by Hill during the latter part of his career. This unrepeatable piece of motorsport memorabilia made an outstanding £138,000. The 1969 Monaco Grand Prix 1st-Place Trophy not only represents Hill's final victory in the principality, but it is also believed to be the first time a Formula 1 Monaco GP 1st-Place trophy has been offered publicly for sale. Forming part of his famous Triple Crown Winner's title, the trophy deserved the £81,600 it made on the day. There cannot be many more significant motorsport trophies ever offered for sale than Hill's 1962 FIA Drivers' World Championship Trophy, awarded upon winning his first Drivers' World Championship in a BRM. Believed to be the first time an FIA Formula 1 World Championship trophy has been offered publicly, it made £49,200. Worthy of note is the 1966 Indianapolis 500 STP Winner's Cheque, presented to Hill on his victory at the iconic 'Indy 500'. The cheque for $12,500 was a large amount of money in 1966 and Hill subsequently acquired his first aeroplane with the money. The lot made £33,600 against a pre-sale estimate of £250 - £400.
