1956 Buick Series 40 Special

Buick began using the 'Special' name in 1936 and usual was applied to the lowest-priced model in the lineup. After World War II, the Specials were given all-new bodywork which was the first new design for the series. Power was from a 248 cubic-inch engine that had been used since 1937. A larger 'Fireball' straight-eight was added for 1951, along with a two-door hardtop coupe body style. For 1954, the Specials received a new chassis, body, and 'Nailhead' V8 engine.

Changes included new taillights, round wheelhouse cutouts, and slight changes to the grille. Three oval Ventiports could be found on each of the fenders.
