Mecum Dallas Collector Car Auction Achieves $36.8 Million in Overall Sales

946 Classic and Collector Cars Sold in Four Days for an 86% Sell-Through Rate

Mecum Auctions, the world's largest collector car auction company, achieved continued success in Dallas this past weekend, with the annual auction event at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Dallas featuring 1,101 cars on offer throughout four days of heated auction action. The Sept. 8-11 event saw overall sales reach $36.8 million as 946 vehicles hammered sold for a strong 86% sell-through rate.

Top sales at the Dallas auction represented the wide selection of cars on offer, with everything from muscle and supercars to sports cars and customs claiming a spot on the top 10 list. Leading the pack in the No. 1 slot, a 2019 Lamborghini Aventador SVJ (Lot S154) with just 3,150 miles garnered an impressive $660,000, followed by a 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429 Fastback (Lot S138) that brought $357,500 as the auction's second highest seller. Ford made a strong showing in the top 10, with a 1968 Ford Mustang GT500CR 900C Fastback (Lot S77.1) from the headlining Triple B Collection claiming the No. 3 spot at $335,500 and the 1966 RCR Ford GT40 Replica (Lot S126), one of just six built for use in 'Ford v Ferrari,' bringing $203,500.

Other top sellers in Dallas included a 1956 Chevrolet 210 Custom (Lot S133) at $253,000, a 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Convertible (Lot F119.1) at $220,000 and a 425 HP 1969 Chevrolet COPO Camaro (Lot S116) with original Daytona Yellow paint at $200,750.

Private collections also did well in Dallas with the aforementioned Triple B Collection seeing all 20 of its lots sell for an aggregate total of more than $1.16 million and the Rick Williams Collection reaching $920,700 as 21 of its cars on offer hammered sold.
