Worldwide's 54th annual Auburn Auction delivers $25 million, with 90% of consignments finding new homes

Auburn, Indiana. September 2024. Worldwide Auctioneers concluded an energetic three-day sale in Auburn, Indiana, over the Labor Day Weekend, with an exceptionally diverse offering of 400 curated vehicles going under the hammer in a packed saleroom at the 54th Annual Auburn Auction and Show, including four exciting private collections. Enthusiasts were treated to an eclectic selection of outstanding sportscars and supercars, celebrity owned vehicles, custom motorcycles, exceptional pre-war automobiles, muscle cars, hot rods and vintage trucks, as well as an extensive selection of the best memorabilia to be found. Almost everything sold in Auburn, with a total final sale of $25 million and 90% of consignments finding new homes.

High sale went to the event's catalogue cover car, a spectacular, recently restored and ACD-certified 1932 Auburn 12-160A Boattail Speedster that brought $1,022,500, the epitome of art deco elegance, brilliant design, and exceptional power. There was no shortage of vehicles with star provenance on offer at this year's event, with the 1998 Lamborghini Diablo VT Roadster used in the hit movie 'The Wolf of Wall Street', notably in the infamous Benihana arrest scene, selling for $610,000. Enthusiasts were also presented with an eye-watering selection of other modern supercars and hypercars, including one of the fastest production Ferraris ever produced, an ultra-exclusive 2024 Ferrari SF90 Spider Assetto Fiorano from the Lone Star Estate Collection, that sold for $830,000. Offered as part of the same collection was a well-optioned 2020 Ferrari 488 Pista Spider, a one-owner supercar that brought $555,000.

Other iconic vehicles with famous associations included The Grateful Dead's personal equipment truck, a notorious 1949 Studebaker M5 formerly owned by the 'Acid King' Owsley Stanley himself that brought $91,200, and a legendary 1952 Harley-Davidson Captain America Motorcycle, one of two choppers used in the cult 1969 film 'Easy Rider', selling for $246,400. Worldwide also continued a long tradition of charitable giving at the Auburn Auction, selling dedicated consignments to benefit the J. Kruse Education Center in support of veterans transitioning back into civilian life and the Spread Ari's Light Foundation, a nationwide initiative committed to brightening the lives of families facing pediatric cancer. Worldwide was further honored to auction the hand-made 39th Annual Classic Car Quilt on behalf of the projects of the Catholic Charities retired senior volunteer program in Auburn.
